On last lecture, Encik Wan gave us a new assignment-Real World Construction.In this assignment,we could experience our product making or the production of our product,the geodesic dome. So,we were divided into 40 groups....

- to built a zero cost & recycable dome.

RULE - zero cost,packaged,prefabricated,accommodate 5,carryable by 3 people,
assemble in 30 minutes,only by team members,show team identity,
assembly:10 Sept 2008,Date:11:30am-12:00noon,life:12 months,recycable

PRODUCT -our dome



We show our team identity by color.The dome comprises of 5 colors which are red,green,blue,yellow and white.GREEN color is my identity color which represent freshing,calming and trendy.







The Progress of Our Product- Dome

At the beginning,we decided to use newspaper as our material to build the 2V dome.We spent 3 days to make the newapaper struts by rolling a few sheets of the newspaper tightly to make into strut.We made a hole about an inch from the end of each strut so that each strut can be bonded to each other.On 7 Sept,we tried to build it but we realised that the newspaper struts were unable to support the structure.Eventually,our dome collapsed because we were lack of the skill.




The next day(8 Sept),we decided to use bamboo as our material.



We jointed the bamboo stick into the shape of pentagon.

Follow the rules: package,prefabricated,carryable & recycable.




Our dome can accomodate by 5 peoples.

We tried to build it and tested the dome(carry by 3 people & assembled in 30 minutes)



In the next morning(10 Sept),after Encik Wan gave us briefing,we submitted our team report.We had 'Carryability Test Path' after the briefing.

Within 30 minutes,5 women(ow yang,shosan,meigi,ai pheng,zhing horng) were successful to setup the dome.




After 24 hours........our dome was distorted due to the raining cat and dog last night....but it still can support..I believed that it will bear for 1 month..

Lecture 3 Product

In this lecture Encik Wan discuss about PRODUCT.

1. Form & Space

-A form may have the following attributes:

-heavy,light,color,texture,finished,pattern,glow,shine,transparency translucency,proportion,scale,size,shape

2. Node & Path

-Path-Way links or leads to another places or nodes..

-Nodes-place of divergence, stop,place of linkage of 2 or more path...

3. Illusion

-A product may also be an illusion.To be more understand about illusion,the following

are some examples of illusion..

a truck with the windshield facing the back, and there has been a driver painted in the drivers seat looking back over his shoulder to appear like he is driving backwards.

LECTURE 2 Site (Scale of the Built Environment)

Before we started the lesson we had did some revision on what we learnt last week .

In this lecture,we learnt about scale.Encik Wan said that 'Scale from the examination of quarks at 100 attometers to 100 million light years away'.

• in terms of size BIG and small if different for a elephant and a mouse is different. The scale for the world start from (1) a single object, then is (2) interior follow by (3) building, after that is (4) premises, (5) urban, (6) regional, (7) global and so on.

What is ProDuCtiOn?
· Production is a process that produce something such as goods or services.

Production consist of 6 elements :
I. INTENTION (niat)
II. ACT (laku)
III. PRODUCT (hasil)
IV. ACTOR (aktor)
V. RULE (aturan)
VI. SITE (tapak)



I. INTENTION

• is a course of action that one intends to follow or an aim that guides action; an objective.
  
• it can be explicit(fully and clearly expressed) or implicit(implied or understood though not directly expressed)
  
• it can be constructive or destructive
  
• must accompany with knowledge (knowledge is a product that involve the actor to do it such as listening to get the knowledge, understanding,thinking-ideology
  -rule is a generalized statement that describes what is true in most or all case

-is right or wrong

-altruism-no right or wrong

-cynicism-everything is wrong

-relativism-everything is right

-must search the true("truth-seekerisme")

In my opinion, i strongly agree that human are evolved from apes.I think that homo sapiens evolved between 400,000 and 250,000 years ago.Homo sapiens evolved in Africa and spread across the globe.

37th Convocation 2008

USM 37th Convocation 2008 From Event to Oval: The Production of Built Environment

This convocation is stage on 13-17 August 2008



Date : 14 August 2008 (second day of convocation)
The view on this morning is different with the other days. ”Traffic jam” occur in USM because of the graduates and their family are attend for the convocation which is one of the most important event in their life….




The red carpet that place beside the D.T.S.P is to welcome the VeRy ImpOrtAnT PeRsoN and the graduates enter the hall of D.T.S.P.. this is the ceremonious scene in USM.
